The Coming Out Party: Luke Mergerson Edition

College basketball players are starting to look more impressive now-a-days. That means, some players can be overlooked.

Then you have those players that haven’t had their time to shine because of another star on their team. Once they finally get the chance, they take over and surprise scouts.

If you don't remember, Luke Mergerson was fortunate enough to give Collegiate Hoops an interview.

During the interview, he stated his interests, things he likes to do, and just things about his future as a basketball player.

He has a great head on his shoulder. He is a very smart kid, with the mentality to succeed.

He stands at 6-foot-8 with the ability to produce consistently in the frontcourt.

When asked what he was trying to improve this summer, Mergerson stated "I'm working on my athleticism mostly. Like my jumping, agility, speed and quickness. I also do school work to stay fresh."

This shows you how much dedication is set-forth for versatility.

Right now, he is a back to the basket scorer, but he can also step outside the arc and hit jumpers.

Going into his senior year of high school, Mergerson has the chance to really show college programs what he is all about.

He played in the shadow of Perry Jones, who just happens to be one of the best freshmen in the country right now, and still did well enough to earn recognition from elite college basketball programs.

Now that Jones is gone, Mergerson will most definitely be the leader of his team and on to a powerful program.

Thus far, Mergerson is the most over-looked recruits in the 2011 recruiting class. After his senior year, scouts across the nation will embark on one of the most improved prospects.
